# Installation

Requires Bun 1.4.4+ on the computer that can reach your router. npm installs the package; Bun runs it. Ensure `bun` is on the PATH available to your terminal and MCP client.

## npm

```sh
npm install --global @dev-agent-io/linksys-cli
linksys --version
linksys --help
```

Or install with Bun:

```sh
bun install --global @dev-agent-io/linksys-cli
```

Without a global installation:

```sh
bunx @dev-agent-io/linksys-cli --help
npx @dev-agent-io/linksys-cli --help
```

Both execution paths require Bun. The package includes the CLI, MCP adapter, skill and usage docs, with no runtime dependencies or installation scripts. No private GitHub access is needed to use the npm package.

## From source

The GitHub repository remains private. If you already have access, reuse your checkout or clone it:

```sh
git clone git@github.com:dev-agent-io/linksys-cli.git
cd linksys-cli
bun run linksys --help
```

Running from source needs no third-party dependencies. You can also run `npm pack` in the checkout and install the resulting `.tgz` locally.

## Updates and removal

```sh
npm install --global @dev-agent-io/linksys-cli@latest
npm uninstall --global @dev-agent-io/linksys-cli
```

Profiles and saved credentials are separate from the package and remain on disk. Public availability of the package does not change the source repository's visibility or grant an open-source license.
